Polystal Composites was founded in 1993. Operations initially began in Dormagen (North-Rhine Westfalia, Germany) at Bayer AG's manufacturing facility with Bayer personnel.

Following the transfer of the Bayer Know-How and the training of its own staff, the company relocated to its current place Haldensleben (Saxony-Anhalt, Germany).

In 2002, Polystal opened a new manufacturing facility in Haldensleben. One of the new features of the modernised plant is a new device for exhaust air treatment with an integrated heat-recovery system.

Polystal Composites GmbH is a member of the WILMS Group since 2007. This globally active corporate group is one of the leading cable manufacturers in Europe.
